“Leadership for Inclusion & Diversity” award

On 4/20, the CAWM is honored to be among the honorees receiving the Leadership for Diversity and Inclusion award at the Massachusetts AAPI Commission's 16th Annual Unity Dinner. Coordinated in colors of black of red, the CAWM’s team of 10 representatives attended the dinner and accepted the award on behalf of all of our Chinese American volunteers and community members who have shown unwavering support for us. We were so incredibly proud of our CAWM volunteers who donate their time and talents to organizing cultural events, bringing cultural experiences to life and fostering understanding through educational events. This award is truly for every member of our vibrant Western Massachusetts Chinese American community.

The dinner was a powerful celebration of the AAPI community's achievements. We were particularly inspired by the achievements of young AAPI community members, such as Pralhad KC and Dr. Yi Zheng. The event also shone a spotlight on Sea Kay Leung, a former student at our local Amherst Regional High School, who bravely spoke out against discrimination against Asian Americans. Her recognition is a true inspiration for the younger members of our community.

The CAWM is grateful for the strong female leadership in attendance, including Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, State Treasurer Deborah Goldberg, State Auditor Diana DiZoglio, and Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell, as well as State Representative Tackey Chan. Their presence underscored the importance of diversity and inclusion in government and greatly encouraged us with their support.
