Celebrating International Women’s Day
On Saturday, March 4th, CAWM participated in the International Women’s Day Celebration hosted by Afrikque Unlimited in Springfield, MA. It was an enriching experience where we shared our culture and celebrated highlights from various cultures, including Africa and Irish cultures, arts, and fashion.
During the event, we taught guests how to create 3D Chinese character decorations, such as the character 春 (pronounced as "Chun," meaning "Spring"), which can be used as centerpieces for spring decorations. We also crafted red lanterns, a favorite among attendees. One girl even adorned her hair with the lantern she made, proud of her creation. Additionally, we provided calligraphy practice sets, and many first-time users surprised us with their skill.
The performances from different groups, including Xi Wang’s Dance School representing our CAWM community, were impressive. Local artists showcased programs unique to their cultures and heritages, leaving us awestruck, particularly by the African drum performance. It was a fitting way to celebrate and honor women worldwide. Click here to view the memorable moments captured from that day.
